Welcoming Our First Home-Based Care Cohort – September 2025
In September 2025, CareCollege proudly welcomed the first group of learners enrolled in our Accredited Occupational Certificate: Home-Based Personal Care Worker (NQF Level 3) programme.
This milestone marks an important step in our mission to train compassionate, skilled caregivers who can support individuals and families in communities across South Africa.
A Growing Need for Skilled Home-Based Care Workers
As South Africa’s population continues to age and the need for home-based support grows, trained care workers play an increasingly important role in the healthcare system. Home-Based Care Workers assist individuals who may be elderly, living with chronic illnesses, recovering from surgery, or needing support with daily living activities.
Through structured training and workplace experience, our programme prepares learners to provide safe, respectful, and professional care in home and community settings.
What Our Learners Will Study
The Home-Based Personal Care Worker qualification combines theoretical learning, practical skills development, and workplace experience.
During the programme, learners will gain knowledge and skills in areas such as:
-
Personal care and hygiene support
-
Infection prevention and control
-
Basic health monitoring
-
Supporting people with chronic conditions
-
Communication and patient dignity
-
Safe home care practices
-
Working within the healthcare system
Learners will also complete practical training modules to ensure they can confidently apply their knowledge in real-world care situations.
A Blended Learning Approach
At CareCollege, we combine face-to-face learning with online study support, allowing learners to develop both practical and theoretical skills throughout the programme.
This flexible model helps learners balance their studies while building the experience needed to succeed in the care sector.
Building a Strong Care Workforce
Our September cohort represents a group of individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. Over the coming months, they will develop the skills needed to provide quality care to those who need it most.
CareCollege is proud to support the development of South Africa’s future home-based care workforce, and we look forward to seeing our learners grow into confident and compassionate care professionals.
